The LGMC ANNUAL SUMMER PICNIC & GRAB BAG STUFFING PARTY is held in August.
The picnic is held in the North shelter at Stern Park in Littleton. The club furnishes the meat, lemonade, ice tea, water, table service, paper plates, napkins, etc. Each member brings a dish to serve 12 or more people. Members bring "show and tell" specimens that they have found for the Club Prospector's case, rocks to swap and lots of stories from rock'n trips. Planned Fall field trip announcements are made by the Field Trip Chairman. After we have been 'stuffed', we gather, with our GRAB BAGGER, to stuff 10 specimens into 500 cloth sewn grab bags for the Denver Gem and Mineral Show in September. These bags have been sewn and strung by members/friends prior to the picnic. Each grab bag is sold at the Denver Gem and Mineral Show and all proceeds go to the Colorado School of Mines for a scholarship fund for a student majoring in the geology. See your summer 'HIGHLITES' newsletter for details and what food you should bring. Pictures from the Picnic! ![]()
